Its Origin

 Introduction

The origin of all waters makes each of them different.

In the far-off and inaccessible confines of the Palentina Mountains, at the foothill of Picos de Europa, the Fuentes de Lebanza water has its source. At the heart of the Fuentes Carrionas Natural Reserve, Fuente Cobre-Palentina Mountains, where its waters reflect the purity and biodiversity of the forests where species with high ecological value live.

Within the spectacular range of over twenty mountains that form its unique relief of magnificent cliffs and deep valleys, with peaks and crests that surpass 2.500 meters and three of them stand out high above the rest: Curavacas, Espigüete, and Peña Prieta. Meadows, rivers, reservoirs and glacier lakes have their sources in these mountains.
Fuente de Lebanza’s source is found on the peaks which receive snowfall at 3.000 m, filtering and settling the water in the depth of the mountain and emerging from under the protection of La Cueva.
